This original VW thrust washer forms part of the front hub and wheel bearing assembly on early Beetle models. It is positioned between the outer front wheel bearing and the spindle nut, providing the correct surface for adjustment and retention of the front wheel bearing.
The washer features a locating tab which sits within the groove in the front spindle, preventing the washer from rotating with the wheel bearing. Its condition is important when correctly setting the front wheel bearing play, as a damaged or excessively worn washer can affect the adjustment of the hub assembly.
