What does this part do on a VW?

This 30 PICT-1 carburettor provides the air and fuel mixture required by compatible aircooled VW engines and offers a complete replacement for a worn, damaged or unreliable original carburettor.

The carburettor is suitable for compatible 1200cc-1500cc single port applications, as well as compatible 1300cc twin port installations using the appropriate inlet manifold setup.

The carburettor is supplied with a 12V automatic choke. Unlike some later PICT carburettors, this particular version does not have a fuel cut-off valve and one cannot be retrofitted.

This is a high quality reproduction carburettor manufactured in Europe. It is not an original Solex-manufactured component, as new original Solex carburettors are no longer available. It provides an OE quality replacement for vehicles requiring the 30 PICT specification.
