What does this part do on a VW?
This original VW spindle nut fits to the left-hand front spindle on early Split Screen models and forms part of the front wheel bearing and hub assembly. It is used to retain the front hub and wheel bearing assembly in the correct position on the spindle.
This left-hand spindle nut features an M22 x 1.5 left-hand thread and is used as part of the original twin-nut and locking washer arrangement fitted to early Split Screen front hubs. Two spindle nuts are used on the left-hand spindle with the locking washer positioned between them.
This is an original VW component rather than a modern reproduction. Each part has been cleaned and put through a blacking process to improve corrosion resistance and help increase the longevity of the original component.
Original spindle nuts can become damaged, heavily corroded or suffer from worn threads after decades of use. A refurbished original component is an ideal choice for restorations and front axle rebuilds where retaining genuine Volkswagen hardware is preferred.

This is the left-hand front spindle nut and features a left-hand thread. Two nuts are required per left-hand spindle when using the original locking arrangement. OE part number 211-405-672 is used for the corresponding right-hand spindle. The part has been through a blacking process to provide additional corrosion protection and help extend its usable life.
