Limebug Adjustable Raise Transmission cradle.
- Delaminating Bushes – Usually a knock when changing gear can be felt or applying or release the throttle, this is most commonly attributed to the glue/ rubber coming away from the metal of the rear mount.
- Mis-aligned Frame Horns – Often cause cross-threading of the main Gearbox Bolts, nearly all chassis frame horns are slightly mis-aligned, be it from factory or over time.
- Prematurely worn Fulcrums on extremely low vehicles. This is caused by consistently driving with high camber angles.
- Solid mount solutions causing heavy vibration.
Our latest development has cured all these issues along with a notched raising system that gives accurate fixed raises of upto 1” all from one cradle.
Why Raise the Gearbox / Transmission?
The main reason for raising the gearbox is due to high camber causing premature wear of both rear wheel bearings and fulcrum plates. The high running angle causes the transmission oil particularly on swing axle configurations to flow to the gearbox side of the axle and starves the wheel bearing of lubrication. Typically also the fulcrum plates will begin knocking and wearing away due to continuous movement too and fro as the axle rotates.
When lifting or raising the transmission the amount of camber will increase lifespan of the fore mentioned components, an added benefit of this is reducing tyre wear and increasing road contact.
When should I raise, and by how much?
Depending on the style of vehicle a different degree of raise may be required, typically tyre size and drop of the rear end are primary factors. This cradle is totally unique in its design giving the ability to run the engine at stock height, 0.5” raise and 1” raise.
Using the system is simple to adjust on the fly requiring only a jack, 13mm spanner’s and your respective gearbox main bolt (usually 27mm).
Lastly, the new adjust-a-raise cradle utilizes a special polymer bush which cannot de-laminate against metal as it is mechanically fixed to the chassis rather than relying on glue to hold the engine in place.
Compatible with: T1 and T3 models 1950-79 and T2 Split Screen models All Years.
