What is this part called?
1963-1967 VW Split Screen King Pin Nylon Shim Thrust Washer
What does this part do on a VW?
This nylon shim thrust washer forms part of the king pin assembly on the front suspension. It sits within the king pin and spindle carrier assembly, helping to correctly space the components and control vertical movement within the king pin assembly.
Over time, the original washer can wear or deteriorate, which can contribute to unwanted vertical movement or play in the king pin assembly. Replacing a worn washer is an important part of correctly rebuilding and setting up the front king pins.
