Description
What is this part called?
1968-1979 Beetle / Karmann Ghia 5×205 Rear Brake Drum Long Spline
What does this part do on a VW?
This rear brake drum converts later long spline Beetle and Karmann Ghia rear axles to the classic wide 5×205 wheel pattern while retaining a drum brake setup.
This makes it possible to fit traditional wide-five wheels to later chassis and is particularly useful for period-style builds, kit cars and restorations where an early wheel appearance is required on a later rear axle.
What are the key features?
- Rear brake drum with classic 5×205 wide-five wheel pattern
- 5×205 PCD
- M14x1.5 threaded wheel mounting holes
- Long spline rear axle fitment
- Allows wide-five wheels to be fitted to compatible later rear axles
- Suitable for left or right rear
- Ideal for period-style and custom wheel conversions
- Supplied individually
What are the brake drum specifications?
- Wheel PCD: 5×205
- Wheel mounting thread: M14x1.5
- Axle fitment: Long spline
- Position: Rear
- Track increase: Approximately 2mm per side compared with a standard 4×130 drum

- Beetle 1968-1979
- Karmann Ghia 1968-1974
Please Note
These drums increase the rear track by approximately 2mm per side compared with a standard 4×130 rear drum. Please check wheel offset, tyre clearance and bodywork clearance before installation.
Please confirm that your vehicle uses the later long spline rear axle arrangement before purchasing. Additional mounting hardware may be required.
This listing is for one rear brake drum. Two drums are required to complete the rear axle.
