’67 Razoredge
Lyndon's 1967 Razoredge Limebug-Built Type 34
For those unfamiliar with the Volkswagen Razoredge, here is a quick history lesson. In 1961, VW revealed the Razor, in efforts to appeal to a higher-market consumer. Loosely based on the concept of the Karmann Ghia, this vehicle had a complete exterior overhaul, alongside a new front chassis style, shared with other Type 3 vehicles (Square/Notch). This provided the Razor with a more luxurious ride, to match it’s stunning coach-built panels. With very few now left over in salvageable condition, it was a pleasure to be involved with this refurb.
Suspension:
When Lyndon came to us with his Razoredge, he wanted to completely overhaul his chassis with Limebug goodies. He wanted his vehicle to sit as low as possible, without the burdens of the Uk’s bumpy road surfaces. We therefore opted to fit our Full Deluxe Air Kit to the Razor, allowing maximum drop and driveability, for those long road trips on un-familiar roads.
The Specs:
- 4″ Type 3 Beam
- MOA430
- Through Rods
- Ultrarm
- Steering Stop
- Swing Axle Cantilever
- Rear Air Plates
Brakes:
To match the stunning looks of his Type 34, Lyndon wanted to add an upgraded brake kit. We provided him with our in-house machined Wilwood Brake Kit. Pairing globally-recognised Wilwood Calipers with our Drilled Discs, provides this Razor with excellent stopping capabilities, plus the perfect background for his fresh split rims.
Wheels:
For rim choice, Lyndon wanted to go all out, and rock a fresh set of LB Split Rims. Fitting with the era of car/stud pattern, he opted for our FU30 design; finished in Satin Black with red hardware to match his interior. To complete these splits, we manufactured some custom-made engraved centre caps, based on Lyndon’s design.
The Specs:
- 5×130 Wilwood Brake Kit – Front and Rear
- Limebug FU30 Split Rims
Management:
When it came to management, Lyndon cut no corners in ensuring underneath his bonnet was show-ready. Opting for the very popular Airlift 3P, this Razor can now operate height pressures accuratly and easily. Opting for 4 smaller tanks gave the vehicle a super cool managment setup – thanks to the varied tank capacities of our MOA range, we managed to fit all the required tanks in, without losing out on overall air capacity. To keep the tanks full at all times, Dual 485c Compressors were added. Once all the parts had been chosen, we handed over the trimming work to The Install Company, who did a killer job showing off this managment setup.
The Specs:
- Airlift 3P
- 2x Stealth Black Viair 485c Compressors
- 2x Black 1 Gallon Skinny MOA Tanks
- 2x Black 1.5 Gallon Skinny MOA Tanks
