1968-79 Bay Window 4″ Narrowed Complete Lowering Kit

Complete solution to lowering your T2 Bay Window the right way. This kit includes a new front beam, all ancillaries accommodate the front axle, rear adjustable spring plates, plus 4x rubber bushes to re-condition your spring plate mounts, finished with a set of shortened stiffened gas charged shocks or Oil shocks to your preference. It also includes the option to add Dropped Spindles and 3.5″ horseshoe plates if you feel that these are further required.

1968-79 Bay Window 4″ Narrowed Elite Series Adjustable Beam

Elite Series Bay Window Beams are built around a versatile design including direct mount with no body / chassis modification for Narrowed and Stock width models, flexibility for Air Ride and Static applications as standard, fitted with roller needle bearings as per original Split Screen beam assembly, ambidextrous fixings for LHD and RHD models as well as both a factory and 1” beam raise built into every end plate.

Combining this with an increase in castor over factory axle design to achieve improved road holding, particularly at speed whilst also reducing lane wander. Fixed via dual adjusters on both upper and lower CDS single piece beam tube’s and linked to the spindles via our own design raised/ tucked steering pin mount.

Each steering pin is relocated tighter to the beam, both counteracting the effect of increased castor in reference the drag link rod whilst most importantly resolving ackermann angle issues on our 2” and 4” narrowed models. This increases both lock-to-lock travel whilst reducing steering weight at slower speeds.

Tie Rods & Tie Rod Ends

High grade CDS turned seamless tubing is the foundation to building up our through rods, twinned with optional OE quality track rod ends and a hard wearing durable powder coat, this is the only sensible way to narrow your VW Beetle / Ghia.

We also produce these track rods in a stock width, meaning when the track rod end wears out you are not stuck with having to throw away the long rod as factory ends are crimped into place.

These feature, German Quality Track Rod Ends, and UK manufactured Track Rods. All Rods are made to our Width guides, and suited to LHD or RHD appropriately.

The option of either Stock or 2″ Dropped Adjustable Dropped Spring Plates (Please ensure you pick the correct model year)

2″ Adjustable Dropped Rear spring plates for T2 Bay Windows.

Each kit includes two adjustable spring plates and a pair of spacer plates to ensure the correct pinch on the rear, ensuring good lift / drop and smooth movement once desired ride height is set. These plates are simply adjusted using the easy access grub screw block fixed to the side of the spring plates – no need to completely disassemble the rear axle.

These spring plates are produced in house with our bespoke 48 spline broach to ensure precision fitment to your torsion bars. The broached sections are then CNC Robot welded to the spring plate sections to ensure a consistent and precise production. The plates are then pre-blasted and finished in a smooth Satin Black powder coat.

Designed to also correct tow-in problems on the rear of your vehicle as each spring plate features slotted driveshaft mounting holes allowing the rear to be laser aligned, this dramatically reduces tyre wear and the loose/ skatey feel to the rear end found on stock spring plates.

2x T2 Bay Window / Split Screen Rubber Smooth 2 3/8″ Spring Plate Bush, Pair

Torsion Bar Rubber Grommet, Inner or Outer, T2 -79, 4 required per vehicle

The option of either GS380, GS460 or OS560 Shock Absorbers to suit a variety of vehicle ride heights.

GS380: MOA GS380 Gas-Charged Shock absorber with a minimum compressed length of 255mm, through to 380mm at their maximum expansion.

GS460: MOA GS460 Gas-Charged Shock absorber with a minimum compressed length of 295mm, through to 460mm at their maximum expansion

Ultimate High Performance gas charged shock absorbers, providing both rapid rebound, reduced roll, yet with soft damping specifically for lowered aircooled VW models. The GS380 are one of the shorter shocks on the market, well suited to mildly lowered static vehicles.

OS560: MOA OS560 Oil filled Shock absorber with a minimum compressed length of 345mm, through to 560mm at their maximum expansion.

Ultimate High Quality Oil Filled shock absorbers, providing a softer OEM feel dampening suited to stock and mildly lowered rear axles.

With the option to also add:

1968-79 Bay Window 2, 1/4″ Dropped Spindles, Black

These Dropped Spindles are manufactured from all new castings and feature Chromoly axles. Powdercoated in Satin Black

These units add 1cm of track width per side. Lowers the vehicle by 6cm exactly. Retains all steering and suspension geometry not compromising your handling or ride quality. Perfect upgrade to any stock or already lowered T2 1967-79 Bay Window.

Please note: The factory backing plates will not be compatible with dropped spindles.

T2 1968-79 Bay Window 3.5″ Drop Rear Lowering Horseshoe Plates

The quick and most effective way to lower the rear of your Bay Window.

Drops the rear end by a fixed 3.5″ approximately. All hardware for installation included. 

Horseshoe plates retain the factory geometry and suspension travel just 3.5″ lower, maintain your tracking.

Two powdercoated satin black horseshoes and fitting hardware are included in the kit, enough to do 1x vehicle.
