What is this part called?
1953-57 Beetle Rear Oval Pop-Out Safari Window Frame with Glass Kit
What does this part do on a VW?
This rear oval safari window kit replaces the standard fixed oval rear window with a hinged pop-out design, adding a highly distinctive period-correct custom appearance. Popular within vintage VW and Cal-Look scenes, rear safari windows create the classic opening rear window style associated with iconic Oval Window Beetle builds.
Designed specifically for 1953–1957 Oval Window Beetle models, this complete conversion kit includes the safari frame, rear oval glass, hinges, latch assemblies, seals, and fitting hardware required for installation. The opening mechanism allows the rear window to pivot outward while maintaining proper support and secure sealing.
