Description

What is this part called?

1960-79 Beetle / Karmann Ghia / T2 Split Screen / Bay Window 69mm Forged Counterweighted Crankshaft

What does this part do on a VW?

This forged counterweighted crankshaft is designed to improve engine strength, reliability, and smoothness in both performance and high-quality rebuild applications. The addition of counterweights helps reduce crankshaft flex, vibration, and harmonic stresses at higher engine speeds, resulting in improved bearing life and greater engine stability throughout the RPM range.

Manufactured from forged 4140 chromoly steel, this crankshaft retains the stock 69mm stroke while offering significantly greater durability than a standard cast crankshaft. Precision-ground, micro-polished, nitrided, and dynamically balanced, it is an ideal upgrade for performance street engines, long-distance touring engines, and high-quality restorations.
