Description
What is this part called?
1960-79 Beetle / Ghia 36HP Style Twin Port Doghouse Fan Shroud Without Heater Outlets
What does this part do on a VW?
This black 36HP-style fan shroud is designed for twin port aircooled VW engines fitted with the later doghouse oil cooler system. It directs cooling air over the cylinder heads and barrels while also accommodating the offset doghouse oil cooler arrangement.
The rounded 36HP-style shape provides a cleaner, more compact appearance than the standard late fan shroud and offers additional clearance around many twin carburettor installations.
This version is supplied without heater air outlets, making it ideal for vehicles where the original heater box air feeds are not required.
What are the key features?
- 36HP-style rounded fan shroud
- Designed for twin port aircooled VW engines
- Doghouse oil cooler configuration
- Black finish
- No heater air outlets
- Internal cooling ducts and air directing vanes
- Designed for use with the wider twin port cooling fan
- Provides additional clearance around many twin carburettor installations
- Ideal for clean engine bay installations without heater air feeds
- Supplied individually
Which engines is this suitable for?
- 1300cc twin port
- 1500cc twin port conversions using a compatible doghouse cooling system
- 1600cc twin port
- Other compatible Type 1 based twin port engines using a doghouse oil cooler
Which VW models will this fit?
- Beetle 1960-1979 – with compatible twin port engine
- Karmann Ghia 1960-1974 – with compatible twin port engine
- Split Screen 1960-1967 – with compatible twin port engine conversion
- Bay Window 1968-1979 – with compatible Type 1 twin port engine
Please Note
This fan shroud is designed for engines using the doghouse-style oil cooler system and is not suitable as a direct replacement for an early single port fan shroud without the corresponding cooling system components.
The shroud does not have heater air outlets and is intended for installations where heater box air feeds are not required.
The accelerator cable opening may require drilling to suit the individual vehicle installation. This style of aftermarket fan shroud does not accept the original thermostatically controlled cooling flaps.
Please check your existing fan, oil cooler arrangement and engine tinware before purchasing.
