What does this part do on a VW?
This rear brake drum is designed for early short spline Beetle and Karmann Ghia rear axle applications and allows Porsche-style 5×130 wheels to be fitted while retaining the original drum brake setup.
The drum is machined in-house specifically to suit the earlier short spline axle arrangement, providing a direct-fit solution for vehicles which would otherwise require a more involved hub or axle conversion to run 5×130 wheels.
Because the drum is based around the original early brake layout, the existing internal drum brake components can be retained, including the original brake shoes, wheel cylinders, springs and adjusters, provided they are in serviceable condition.

This drum has been machined in-house specifically for use with early short spline rear axles. It allows the original earlier drum brake internal components to be retained, making it a straightforward way to convert to 5×130 Porsche-pattern wheels without changing the complete rear brake assembly.
Please check that your vehicle is fitted with the early short spline axle arrangement before purchasing, particularly on vehicles which may have had later axles, brakes or drivetrain components fitted during their lifetime.
Please also check wheel offset, tyre clearance and bodywork clearance when fitting alternative wheels. Suitable wheel fixings with the correct thread and seat type must be used.
This listing is for one rear brake drum. Two drums are required to complete the rear axle.
