Description
What is this part called?
Lightened Flywheel – 200mm, 8-Dowel, 12V
What does this part do on a VW?
The flywheel is a critical engine component mounted to the rear of the crankshaft. It provides rotational mass to keep the engine running smoothly and serves as the mounting surface for the clutch assembly. This lightened version reduces rotational weight, allowing the engine to rev more quickly and improve throttle response, which is particularly beneficial for performance or spirited driving applications. It also carries the starter ring gear, enabling the starter motor to crank the engine during startup.
