What is this part called?
1947-66 Beetle / Karmann Ghia / T2 Split Screen / Type 3 6 Volt 40 Amp Universal Relay
What does this part do on a VW?
This universal 6-volt relay is designed to control higher-current electrical accessories while reducing the load placed on switches and wiring. Relays allow a low-current control circuit to safely operate a higher-current circuit, helping improve electrical reliability and protecting original switchgear from excessive wear.
Commonly used for auxiliary lighting, horns, fog lamps, cooling fans, and other electrical accessories, this 40-amp relay is suitable for a wide variety of applications on early 6-volt Volkswagen vehicles. Its universal design makes it an ideal replacement for worn original relays or for use when installing additional electrical equipment.
