What does this part do on a VW?

This under bonnet air ride management cradle has been designed specifically for 1961-1967 Karmann Ghia models, providing a clean and practical way to mount the main air suspension management components within the front luggage compartment.

The cradle allows the air tank, compressor or compressors and management system to be assembled together off the vehicle before being lifted into position as one complete unit. Once installed, the air lines and electrical feeds can then be connected, greatly simplifying the installation process.

The design uses existing fuel tank mounting points, avoiding unnecessary drilling while still keeping access to the fuel tank, wiring and surrounding components as clear as possible.

The cradle is supplied as the mounting system only unless otherwise stated. Air tank, compressors, management system, airline, fittings and electrical components are not included.

Tank and management compatibility should be checked before installation, particularly where non-standard tank sizes, welded bases or alternative compressor combinations are being used.

The system is designed so the complete air management assembly can be built outside the vehicle and then lifted into place. Once installed, simply connect the air lines along with the low and high current electrical feeds to complete the installation.
