Description
Chromoly Straight-Cut Cam Gears (3-Bolt), Adjustable
Classic Aircooled VW Cam Gear parts by Limebug
Straight Cut Cam Gears remove the thrust load off the camshaft bearings, which is a problem with dual springs, and especially with high lift camshafts. These require less HP to drive than stock (helical) gears. Supplied with bolts and indexed washers to adjust in 1 degree increments!
Construction from Billet 4340 Chromoly Steel
Always check the following during installation:
Sometimes the woodruff key is too wide, or the slot in the crank is too narrow. This causes the crank to “swell” when the key is hammered into the crank, then the gear is too tight next to the gear. This is a common cause of the gear cracking at the key way, or the more common not known problem of elliptical crank gears, which shows as the cam gear has serious tooth wear in 2 locations 180 degrees from one another on the soft aluminum gear. Make absolutely sure that the crankshaft does not measure larger on either side next to the woodruff key after the key is installed.
