What does this part do on a VW?
This front brake backing plate forms the main mounting base for the components within a compatible VW front drum brake assembly.
The brake shoes, wheel cylinder, adjusters and associated hardware are supported by the backing plate, helping keep the complete drum brake assembly correctly located. It also provides protection to the internal brake components from road debris and contamination.
The plate can be used on either the left or right side of compatible front drum brake applications.
